Let's talk about trauma in the black community
It seems that everybody today is talking about mental health and past trauma, but the moment black people start talking about such things as the historical slavery trauma of black people, people get upset. They don't want us to talk about it and as most say, we should get over it. Yet we can't and it's because we haven't been able to address this and many other forms of trauma that we have and continue to experience. Just like others have the right to tell their story, so do we in the Black African community here in America.Let’s talk about the trauma in the black community takes a look at some of the trauma that we have experienced and that people don't want to talk about. Doing so as a starting point for those who wish to help us help ourselves. It is not meant to lay blame even though we can in some cases. It however is to show what we as a community are truly suffering from, even if many don't realize it. While this book doesn't cover all that we suffer from, it is a starting point as I said so that people can open their eyes and start to address things. To help stop pushing these serious topics under the rug and we finally can do some deep diving into them.
